How to Become a Member of South Plains Presbyterian Church
The Presbyterian Church (USA) is called to witness to the new
reality which God has made available to all people in Jesus Christ.
Those wishing to become members of South Plains Presbyterian
Church may speak to the Pastor or to any member of the Session. Classes for
Inquirers are led by the Pastor and officers, and are offered at various times
during the year.
New members are examined and received by the Session, after
which they reaffirm vows made at Baptism and are welcomed by the congregation
during a Sunday worship service.
New Members may join South Plains Presbyterian Church by:
Profession of Faith
in Jesus Church – for those who have never made a public statement of faith in
Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
Reaffirmation of
Faith in Jesus Christ – for those who come from a church that will not
recognize their transfer or for those who may have been inactive members for
some time
Transfer of Certificate – for those transferring membership from another Christian congregation
Professing their
faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
Renouncing evil and
affirming their reliance on God’s grace
Declaring
their intention to participate actively and responsibly in the worship and
mission of the church.
A faithful member accepts Christ’s call to be involved
responsibly in the ministry of his Church. Such involvement includes:
