Stitching Instructions for the Cross Stitch Sampler for

Greater Charlottesville and Fluvanna County Units Habitat for Humanity

 

 

Supplies: AIDA – 14 (or 16) count fabric, at least 10” x 12” or size to fit 8” x 10”frame. DMC Floss – Use two threads of DMC for ALL stitching, even back stitching for letters. 321 (dark red for first line of text and centers of hearts) 336 (dark blue for the three figures under the roof) 298 (outside edges of hearts and name and date below) 780 (dark gold for “Home Sweet Habitat”) 3347 (lime green for roof and side of house) 3765 (medium blue for “Built with love for the”

Instructions: If you usually start from the center of a pattern and fabric, start at the box in the middle figure (six lines from the bottom of the figure). Complete everything but the Habitat Unit, the name of the family, and the date. Take the sampler to Mission Crafters at South Plains to await information about the next Habitat dedication and home owner.

When we receive information about the new home owner, you, or someone else, will complete the sampler. We will be given the name of the Habitat Unit (for second line) and the name of the family and year (for bottom two lines)

If you are completing a sampler: Use box in Habitat Unit Line to center “Greater Charlottesville” or “Fluvanna County” (see graphs on front, at bottom of sampler pattern). Using letters and numbers below, graph family name plus “Family” (see graph below). Use box in Family Line to center “(name) Family”. Add date. Return sampler to South Plains.
